Jorge Barón '03, 2005 Liman Fellow, recently stepped down from his role at Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP) after nearly 17 years with the organization (the last 15 as executive director). Jorge is now embarking on a new challenge: seeking elected office. He is running for a seat on the King County Council, the largest county in Washington State, which includes Seattle and surrounding regions. Chesa Boudin '11, 2012 Liman Fellow, was recently named the founding executive director of Berkeley Law’s new Criminal Law & Justice Center. Eager to build on his work to transform the criminal legal system, the former San Francisco district attorney plans to "shed light on issues too often dominated by fear mongering and scare tactics rather than facts and law." Natalia Friedlander '18, 2018 Liman Fellow, has returned to Yale Law School as a clinical teaching fellow with the Veterans Clinic.


On April 19th, Tom Jawetz '03 published an article about the Biden administration's use of immigration parole. A 2004 Liman Fellow, Tom is currently a Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress. 

Liman Center Director Jennifer Taylor '10, shared news that the U.S. Supreme Court recently ruled in favor of her husband, Evan Milligan, and other plaintiffs in the Alabama voting rights case, Allen v. Milligan. On June 8, the Court affirmed a lower court decision that Alabama's newest Congressional maps dilute Black voters' influence and violate section 2 of the Voting Rights Act.

Alex Agosta, who began with the Liman Center in October 2022 as a temporary, part-time Center Coordinator, completed her term with us in late April. She contributed greatly to the success of this year's Colloquium and helped handle many tasks necessary to keep the Liman Center going. Thank you, Alex!
