Join Us on the
Yale Data Green

The Yale Data Green, which we introduced last Data Drive, is an expanding resource for data discovery at Yale!

To explore datasets from Yale Library and DISSC, including DISSC’s Numerator and Infutor Consumer Address History licensed consumer panel datasets, head over to the Data Green! Initial access for members of the Yale community uses SSO sign-on, and full dataset access is easy to request for your research.

DISSC and Yale Library are working to make datasets from the Social Science Data Archive available on the Data Green, so if there’s a dataset from there (or anywhere else) you’d like to see added to the Data Green, email researchdata@yale.edu.

Data News

X Open for Academic Social Media Research

Authorized historical X data access for academic research has been recently re-established via DiscoverText. Scholars and other researchers at Yale have been offered the chance to try this new service. Xsifter is an X-compliant enterprise tool designed to help academic researchers retrieve precise X/Twitter datasets directly into DiscoverText for academic research and teaching. For a nominal fee, researchers build X/Twitter data search queries and then analyze the resulting dataset using DiscoverText’s full suite of collaborative, web-based tools. If you are interested, please contact us at dissc@yale.edu.

New data available on Dewey Data Platform

The Dewey Data Platform, provided by Yale Library, allows access to a large number of third-party datasets and can be accessed with SSO; just hit “Sign In” and enter your Yale email address to get started. Some new datasets on the platform include:

• GovFiles business records collected from Secretaries of State around the country

• Dwellsy residential rental data

• LinkUp jobs records salary data directly from career websites

• Serif Health healthcare price transparency data

• MarketCheck VIN-level automotive dealership data

• Select Lightcast company and office data, including on employees and office space

• IPInfo IPv4 and IPv6 IP Address Geolocation Data

New data on WRDS

Two new datasets are available on Wharton Research Data Services through Yale Library:

• Panjiva S and P Global Trade Data, including transaction level details on goods traded across borders

• MSCI Climate Transition Data, including climate-related financial disclosures, climate policies, and corporate emissions for over 12,000 publicly listed companies.

Farewell to MTurk

Amazon’s MTurk (Mechanical Turk), a crowdsource micro-task platform, is shutting down at the end of September. If you were planning to use MTurk for academic work in your research, consider these other Yale contracted survey platforms.

Why Data Drive?
The title is a nod to both the hard drives of computing's past — and a reflection of our love of disc golf. Just like in the game, we hope this newsletter finds its mark and lands close to the target.
