YSM ETI Presents at the 2026 Yale One IT Conference
On March 18, 2026, the Yale One IT Conference brought together technology professionals and innovators from across the university for a day of networking, learning, and engagement, hosted by Yale School of Management at Edward P. Evans Hall. The event featured a keynote address by Florian Carle, managing director of the Yale Quantum Institute, alongside sessions led by colleagues from across Yale.
Among the presenters was Ye Xu, PhD, and Kathleen Ludewig, PMP, of the YSM ETI team, whose talk—Ambient Feedback Tool Integrated with Clarity API to Advance Medical Education—showcased an AI-powered web application that automates the transcription and analysis of conversations between medical students, standardized patients, and instructors during simulation workshops. The tool delivers structured written educational feedback and clinical notes in real time, integrating OpenAI's Whisper for transcription and Gemini 2.5 Flash via the Clarity AI API for analysis, hosted on Yale's SpinUp server.
Initial validation in fall 2025 involved eight faculty members alongside 104 medical and 40 physician associate students. Feedback highlighted strong usability, with mean scores of 4.1 out of 5 for intuitiveness and ease of use. Early processing speed challenges were resolved through GPU upgrades, and a more extensive faculty validation phase is underway.
