Benjamin Cover ’09, will have a chapter he wrote called "Redistricting Criteria" included in The Oxford Handbook on American Election Law, forthcoming this fall. His forthcoming article, "Voter Fraud Mistake," has been accepted for publication. He recently presented it at the 8th Annual ACS Constitutional Scholars Forum. Benjamin is starting a sabbatical research project on the First Amendment and recent efforts to restrict access to library materials.
On May 3, 2024, Diane de Gramont ’19, got final approval of a settlement in Lucas R. v. Becerra to protect the rights of children with disabilities in federal immigration custody. For more information on that settlement (and settlements related to psychotropic medications and access to legal counsel) visit here. This disability rights claim in Lucas R. was a central part of her Liman fellowship project at the National Center for Youth Law.
Romy Ganschow ’12 became Chief Deputy City Attorney for the Consumer Protection Unit of the Santa Monica City Attorney’s Office in October 2023. Her work is heavily focused on housing and enforcement of tenants’ rights.
Duncan Hosie ’21, an associate in the Orrick law firm’s Supreme Court and appellate practice, has been chosen to be an inaugural Steven M. Polan Fellow at the Brennan Center for Justice. The Polan Fellows program provides a platform for outstanding individuals — including legal practitioners, advocates, and scholars — to spur debate over the meaning and promise of the U.S. Constitution. With support from the Polan Fellowship, Hosie will produce scholarship documenting the rapid pace of legal change under the Roberts Court. He will also organize events focused on the constitutional vision of two leading jurists of the Warren Court, Justices William J. Brennan Jr. and Thurgood Marshall.
