On Sunday, May 19, the ISM community joined with proud family members and friends to celebrate our twenty-two new graduates. Following a special dinner, certificates were presented to each student and the 2024 prize and scholarship winners were also announced. The following day, the graduates joined in the University's formal Commencement ceremony and received their degrees from the Yale School of Music or Yale Divinity School. Library adds gospel legends to its collection of oral history interviews
Yale’s Oral History of American Music collection recently added three Grammy Award–winning artists to its roster of interviews: Richard Smallwood (pictured), Lady Tramaine Hawkins, and Bebe Winans. The gospel artists were in New Haven for April's “Anthem of Praise”, a concert sponsored by ISM’s Interdisciplinary Program in Music and the Black Church to honor the life and music of Richard Smallwood. Praises ring out in Woolsey Hall for ISM's closing anniversary event
On May 5, Woolsey Hall was filled with jubilant voices as the ISM marked the end of its 50th anniversary celebrations with an ecumenical hymn festival on the theme “All Creation Sings.” Attendees joined in rousing songs such as “We’ve Come This Far by Faith” and “Sweet, Sweet Spirit" and Drs.
